Terms of Service

These terms cover the Youth Broadcast Network (YBN) website, the Studios and the student platform. By using them you agree to these terms. Students under 18 may use them only with a parent or guardian's permission.

Who can use YBN

• YBN is for students in participating schools, their families, and school staff.
• A parent or legal guardian must give permission before a student under 18 submits work. The permission is requested each time work is sent.
• Do not share your account or tell anyone else how to get around a safety step.

What you may make and share

Make and send work that is your own, or that you have permission to use, and that is right for a school audience. Please do not send or put into your work:

• Anything hateful, violent, sexual, or that bullies or embarrasses a person.
• Last names, phone numbers, home addresses, school schedules, or other private information about you or anyone else.
• Pictures, voices or video of a person who has not agreed to be in it.
• Music, images or other material that belongs to someone else without permission.

The video Studio records only while a face is in the picture and uses safety checks. These checks help, but they do not replace good judgment. Do not try to get around them.

Review and publishing

• Everything you send is reviewed by a teacher before anyone else can see it. We may decline, hold back or remove any work, and we may tell the student why.
• By sending work and with a parent or guardian's permission, you let YBN store it, review it, and, if it is approved, show it on the YBN student platform.
• You keep ownership of your work. A parent or guardian, or the student, can ask us to remove it at any time.

Points, badges and rewards

Bars, badges and rewards are for fun and encouragement. They have no cash value. Rewards are handed out by school staff, may change, and can be limited or ended at any time.

Keeping everyone safe

We may limit or end access for anyone who breaks these terms or puts others at risk. If we find content that puts a child at risk, we are required by law to report it to the proper authorities.

No promises

YBN is provided as is, without a guarantee that it will always work or be free of errors. Please keep your own copy of anything important. To the extent the law allows, YBN is not responsible for losses that come from using it.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how it is used. It is part of these terms.

Changes and questions

We may update these terms and will change the date above when we do. Questions can be sent through the form on the YBN home page.
